About the Environment and Climate Council

The Environment and Climate Council of Washington is dedicated to fostering a sustainable future for our communities, advocating for policies that protect our natural resources and promote environmental justice through research, education, outreach, collaboration, and engagement with a broad community of stakeholders.

Our mission is to ensure that environmental issues—and especially the urgent challenge of climate disruption—are meaningfully reflected in the policies, platform positions, resolutions, and endorsements of the Democratic Party of Washington State. We work to keep environmental protection and climate action at the forefront of the party’s priorities.

We also strive to partner with community groups and media outlets to raise awareness of environmental concerns and their deep connections to social justice. By elevating these issues, we aim to broaden understanding and build stronger coalitions for change.

From water rights to fossil fuels, we advocate for legislative and campaign priorities that secure the strongest possible champions for the environment and climate at the state level. Our goal is to help ensure that Washington is represented by leaders who are prepared to act boldly, responsibly, and effectively on behalf of our planet and our communities.
